After putting this on my mattress, and of course having an exterminator come in to do his thing, I started to notice immediately that I wasn't getting bitten anymore. So it's definitely a quality product.
Now it is 2 months later, and my roommate is getting a new mattress so I told him to pick up one of these Allerzip protectors and then we saw the new price...$114.99! (used to be $69.99 on Amazon)
So the price has skyrocketed from $69 to $114 in 2 months?! Allerzip, you make an excellent product (it is great, seriously), but what is going on here? A 65% price hike seems a little steep.

(More customer reviews)I thought for the $100+ price tag the material would be more durable and thick. I read online journals discouraging consumers from purchasing "cheap" mattress encasements because they tear easily and so on. I didn't think Allerzip, which was praised for its product dependability, would be categorized as "cheap." I did not wash it prior to encasing my mattress, and 2 weeks after carefully inspecting the encasement, I saw a tear on the corner. It must have happened when I was doing what people normally do on beds: lay, sleep, sit, and roll around a bit. So caution to others, it rips VERY easily, and I imagine washing it in a non-agitating washing machine is a definite must. As for trapping bed bugs inside, without any tears or rips, I think it will stand up to the job, but regular visual inspection is a must because bed bugs may still locate to the bed, at which time, spotting then removing them is more easily done.

I shopped around for bed bug proof mattress covers, and decided to buy this cheaper one despite the mixed reviews. I'm satisfied with it. It wasn't difficult to put on, although if it's a tight fit for your mattress you should take a few minutes and not get impatient. The zipper is nothing special, but it's about as secure as you could reasonably expect - I put a bit of tape over the end just to be sure. The material is exactly what I expected after reading the description of "cotton-like." It's stiffer than cotton, but softer than paper. It doesn't crunch or crinkle and it has no odor.

(More customer reviews)I only bought this cover a few weeks ago, so cannot really review the actual use against bed bugs, will have to wait on that. The material that is made of is a stretchy vinyl that will rip if caught on something or even scratched against a surface. Putting on is challenging and need to be extra careful not to rip it (which I managed to do). The problem is putting the spring box back onto the frame (I have the metal kind), good luck not ripping it at this stage. I mean, if you can, have two people place the box spring exactly on the frame where it should go so that you don't have to move/push it once you have placed it down... even if you need to move it a little bit, the friction against the metal frame will likely rip it in a few places.... this is my only complain, and i guess if bugs do re-appear I will not know whether it is to the actual holes or simply that the cover doesn't work....

(More customer reviews)I have been diagnosed with dust mite allergies and advised to cover my mattress and box-spring. I am very satisfied with this item. I was concerned it would be like something from a hospital rather than a hotel. I am relieved that it is very much like the latter: satin, high quality, upscale.
The installation instructions are comprehensive and easy to follow. The zipper goes all the way round which makes things easier - it certainly glides very smoothly. For all those like me who prefer to buy things made in the USA you will be as disappointed as I was to know that the tag says MADE IN CHINA.
Two negative comments: the warranty reads like a legal agreement - not sure they ever want (or are obligated) to honor their 10 year commitment. Also their literature says that only 70% of bed bugs live in the mattress - you could buy this product and still have other things to do to remedy your situation

So I ordered the sleep safe bed bug, dust mite and allergen proof mattress, box spring cover and pillow case covers. I ordered the wrong depth for the mattress cover and the gave a hssels free exchange, they shipped the new one out before the recieved the wrong one back. I was worried how it would feel something under the sheet, but you don't even notice it there. I would strongly recommend this product for any allergies.

(More customer reviews)The Good: The fabric is definitely waterproof and does seem to control the allergens. The pillow protector is much better than the mattress protector because there are no seam issues or oversize issues with the pillow protector.
The Bad: The Queen size mattress encasement has a seam running across the width of the bed! That seam is uncomfortable to my hip lying on it after a period of time, and I am a normal to skinny size person. My cover developed a rip in this mid-cover seam area after only a couple months. Clean Rest asked me to send it back to them before I can get another one under the warranty. So now I have to buy something else for the time I'll be out a cover. Also, we have a 9" deep mattress. The Queen size fits up to 15" deep, and they do not have another product for a shallower mattresss. Since the fabric is a silky texture, the extra fabric wrinkles up underneath you eventually, even if you initially tucked it under the mattress. It's made in China.
Update: I sent the encasement back to Clean Rest, and after some back and forth with customer service they finally honored their lifetime guarantee for a refund of money as was explicitly stated on the package.
The replacement mattress encasement that I bought from National Allergy is MUCH BETTER and made in USA.

My grandmother used to have a saying about life: "If it isn't fleas, it's bedbugs." I thought bedbugs had become extinct along with the Black Plague, but what else could be causing this? My college roommate was coming the next week to stay in this room so I had to act quickly. I looked for bedbug remedies online and found this mattress covering at Amazon.
This mattress cover was so reasonably priced compared to others I'd looked at I was concerned perhaps the quality was lacking, but I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived that it was fine. It's lightweight and breathes--do support the mattress when you're putting it in the covering. It is super value for the price and seems to get the job done--will probably order more for all the mattresses in our house. My roommate had a great visit (with no complaints) and I haven't had any red patches since. I've since learned the U.S. has had a bedbug epidemic because people aren't using chemical pesticides as much which makes me feel better about my housekeeping. Why purchase an ordinary mattress cover for the home when you can get one that is dust/mite/bug proof for the same price or less? I also bought pillow covers from the same company for our beds and have loved them as well.
