(More customer reviews)We had a lot of cockroaches. A lot. It was disgusting. Apparently, they were in the walls, and other condos had problems with them as well. We started out only lightly dusting the Diatomaceous Earth through the kitchen, which is where the biggest problem was. A few weeks went by, and no doubt, some of them were dead. You can tell they were dehydrated. At one point, my boyfriend saw one of them stumbling as if it were drunk, covered in white powder. I knew it was working. We had to sweep them away constantly. But, did they all die? No. We started sprinkling more and more. At one point, the little kitchen was covered in white.
It's very eco-friendly, which is why I tried it. The dog and cat didn't go near it, but it didn't affect them. My boyfriend, who has severe allergies, wasn't affected by it as well. But, some of those suckers wouldn't die! Maybe the other reviewers didn't have as bad as a problem as we did. But, once we moved out (we didn't move out because of the cockroaches, but they did help) and we took away all of the food and moisture, they were pretty much gone.
So yes, it did work. I still have some. It lasts a long time. If I see some in our new place, I will no doubt use it again. Maybe our problem was just too big for this powder.

My husband and I do not have children or pets and together we keep a very clean house. When I first started noticing ants, earwigs, spiders, etc, I tried products from local hardware and home improvement stores and noticed minimal results. Then I went to a costly, professional pest control service and noticed slightly better results, however I still had bugs in my house on a regular basis. I decided to research other pest control methods and stumbled across diatomaceous earth and how it controls pests organically. I read about the positive results people had experienced using it for pest control and how the bugs can't develop a resistance to it. My understanding about the way it works is when the bug gets the powder on itself, the powder actually scrapes the bugs and they end up dying from dehydration. (Similar to a human walking through glass.) (I know it's kind of gross...) Anyway, I decided to give it a try and am very happy that I did. Practically overnight my husband and I stopped seeing earwigs and other bugs in the house. We were simply amazed with the quick results and, since this is organic, we were very happy that we were no longer being exposed to chemicals. I have a few potted plants outside and was so frustrated that they were dying despite regular watering, sunlight and use of a top-grade fertilizer. One night I noticed an earwig crawling around the rim of the pot and wondered if they were the cause for my plants doing so poorly. I decided to put some diatomaceous earth around the top of the pots, (in the dirt), as well as the base of the pots and could not believe how quickly they all perked up. I have to say that these plants have tripled in size since the addition of the diatomaceous earth. I have never had blooming plants look as terrific as these do.
The only drawback to this product is that it must be reapplied after being rained on, but it's a small price to pay to have a bug-free home and beautiful plants. A co-worker of mine kept complaining about ants in her house, (she has kids and pets), and said she's done everything she can think of, (bleaching, chemicals, extra cleaning, covering pet food, etc), but still had ants. I told her about the diatomaceous earth, how it's organic and how I was impressed with the results. She purchased this same product, (Concern diatomaceous earth), and could not believe how quickly it stopped the ants from coming into her house. She has not seen even one ant in her house since a day or so after she put the diatomaceous earth around the perimiter of her house. I would highly, highly recommend this product to anyone who has problems with bugs in their home, in their potted plants or garden.

DE is the remains of microscopic one-celled plants (phytoplankton) called diatoms that lived in the oceans and lakes that once covered the western part of the US and other parts of the world. Internal feeding of food grade DE helps eliminate most internal worms, though possibly not all. It's also excellent when fed daily to keep down fly loads, since food grade DE is eliminated from the body, exactly the way it went in, it helps reduce the manure odor and kills flies that come in contact with it. Mix in animal feed or grain and/or feed free choice.
If fecal counts are not zero for worms and ova after feeding DE for 30 days, increase the daily dose. Feeding too small a dose of DE will not give desired results. Increasing the dose, even if greater than the above recommendations, will not harm anyone.
Some horses do fine on 1/2 cup of DE daily, others need a full cup. This reminds us, that all beings are different. So again, if the worm and ova counts are not zero, increase your daily dose.
*Some recommend to dose humans by mixing food grade DE in a glass of water before bed or first thing in the morning, well before breakfast, to allow diatomaceous earth time to move through and absorb toxins from one's digestive tract without interfering or absorbing nutrients from foods or liquids. Some report great results consuming 1 tsp. in a glass of water prior to each meal, 3x/day.

(More customer reviews)This stuff Rocks! - I had previously ordered some D.E. from another company (Wolf Creek Ranch) when I became very ill with parasites. No complaints, the stuff worked very well - In fact a little creepy well. This first time I took it, I felt a spastic squirming in my body I had never felt before along with a heavy pressure bearing down (like being in hard labor) like the parasites wanted OOOUUTT. It was horrifying to say the least - I then even found a hole/exit wound in my skin (where I had previously felt the squirming) the next day from some of them doing just that! Disgusting. (Having Parasites is 50% head game, I swear).
- It's GOOD to FOLLOW ADVISE about the D.E. when dealing with parasites; which is as follows - "WORK UP TO a Tablespoon a day & THEN a Tablespoon 2xs per day. You can do 3xs per day or more if you feel a need, but you be the gauge. I didn't listen and took about 1 1/2 Tablespoons the very first go round. I'm extremely lucky I didn't receive damage internally from the burrowing of the parasites. Don't do what I did - No need to shock 'em into chaos. Just quietly kill them before they know what hit 'em. - Again.... Following directions is a Good Thing :).
Here's some of the benefits I've personally received from consuming D.E.:
1) Parasites - It worked incredibly well (no other weird experiences with the D.E. after that first dose by the way - I DON'T WANT TO DETER ANYONE FROM USING IT - It was a key component to my ridding of those lil' buggers and getting well). I also took "ParaPure" herbal tincture and some occasional "Bloodroot" in-between rest times for the "ParaPure". These herbal items were not added until after being on the D.E. for about 2 weeks, so I KNOW the D.E. works well on it's own merit.
2) Intestinal Detoxification - It keeps me cleaned out and functioning well :) NOTE: I've read others say it constipates them. I've only experienced this a few times and it was because I was not drinking enough liquid to wash it thru'.
3) My skin is Incredible! - I've had a sort of Melasma looking problem on my face and chest for years, and the D.E. for some reason has really been evening out my tone. Also the texture and moisture of my skin has literally never been this awesome. Even facial lines have softened too. (I've been taking D.E. for about 5+ months now).
4) Energy (& ADHD medicine replacer?) :) - I had no qualms with the other brand I was using, but this Nature's Wisdom brand is So Much Better. It is a finer/lighter powder and actually mixes into things better for some reason. I still take D.E. everyday mixed in with my Spiced Rooibos Chai Tea & was use to having to swirl it around every time I went to take a drink; because it would settle at the bottom of my thermos. But, this stuff doesn't clump at the bottom like the other would. Sometimes it use to even leave a hardened layer at the bottom of my cup, but not this brand!! :)))
For a moment, I thought, "Okay, but maybe because the powder seems finer it's just lighter in weight per Tablespoon and I'm not putting in as much (per weight) as I was before".... BUT.... This brings me to the "Energy" benefit of why this brand is so much better
- I feel it is absorbing into my system better. I can tell this because of the massive amount of energy I get after drinking it. I had read numerous times of others saying they couldn't sleep after consuming D.E., so Not to take it at night. I personally had a small bit of "alertness" previously with the other brand but nothing too severe. With this stuff however *Sheesh!* I will have to learn NOT to take it at night. For instance, I just received my Nature's Wisdom D.E. yesterday, so I had some last night. I felt like I could clean my whole house in one incredible, speedy, & motivated sweep!.... at 1:00 am!... and I hate cleaning. Stupid me couldn't sleep, so unaware of "why" I was buzzing, I got up out of bed & out of habit had another cup of tea with the D.E.! - and then couldn't understand why I soon after had the shakes like I had O.D.'d on my ADHD meds or something - Then it hit me.... It was the D.E.! I tested it out this morning, just to make sure, by having a Tablespoon of D.E. in my tea again (and I was tired from not sleeping well last night *lol*), and I quickly was "perked". I think I will test it out this next week even further to see if I can replace some days with D.E. instead of my ADHD meds, and see if it does the job(?). Wouldn't that be something?! I'll report back with my experience :)
5) Flea/Parasite Deterrent and Remedy for pets! - I already mentioned it helped immensely with my own human parasite issue (I'd been to Africa btw), but I give D.E. to my dog everyday in his food (this is recommended & stated as safe by numerous vets and animal care organizations). Let's say, I'm giving my pooch just regular dry dog food today, I just sprinkle a heaping Tablespoon of D.E. into the dish and splash a little water in and swirl it around to mix it (He's a medium sized dog - pit mix). The dog food stays dry and crunchy and the dog eats it up :). In the past he had a problem with worms, but when I started him on the D.E., it got rid of them :). Also my dog has not a single flea or tick on him.... and no other flea/tick treatment is used.
6) Bug/Insect Deterrent and Remedy for the Home/Property - You can sprinkle this stuff around trouble areas or mix it with some water in a sprayer. Insects HATE IT (especially cockroaches for some reason), because it is microscopically sharp and it cuts them up. Leaving them injured, killed and/or dehydrated (leading to eminent death). Oddly, I've noticed slugs are attracted to it, but then my slug populous has almost gone away. It could be for the same reason that ants and some parasites are drawn to it. They like to eat it... but then it cuts them up :)
CAUTION: While D.E. (FOOD GRADE ONLY - NOT THE STUFF USED IN POOL SYSTEMS) is very safe for human/pet consumption, you DO NOT want to INHALE it! I've accidentally done so, when covering the dog's bed with it, and the warnings are correct... It left my lungs hurting badly and a bit asthmatic. It can cause your lungs some serious and permanent damage if you are not careful - So WEAR A MASK if dusting it anywhere.
- After purchase, I immediately transfer my bag(s) of D.E. to plastic containers with screw on lids (recycled nut containers from Costco work great). This leaves the likelihood of any D.E. flying in the air to a minimum. Opening and closing bags can have the powdery stuff floating in the air and you don't want that.

(More customer reviews)This is wonderful to prevent fleas. We have been using it around our dogs pen, in the pen and in our home. We didn't have a flea problem inside to begin with but we are using it to prevent that. Our dog was bringing in at least 6 fleas every day. We started putting it on the dog and it almost totally keeps the fleas from getting on her which is no small feat. Our house is surrounded by woods and she stays outside most of the day. It is also OK if she ends up eating some of it because it's safe. They actually use it to deworm animals anyway. One of the drawbacks is that diatomaceous earth dries out skin. We haven't had any issues with it yet but we're always watching.
We have also used it on our rose buds and blooms. We dust it right onto the roses. Japanese beetles and June bugs were eating them up but sense we started using the diatomaceous earth, I haven't found but one or two. The roses are much healthier now.
The only drawback is that after a rain or heavy dew, you have to reapply the dust. Also, if you plan to use it on or around your animals, it needs to be food grade.

I have used diatomaceous earth for about 20 years now and continue to discover new uses. This product is food grade, which means you can use it in all your stored grains, beans, pastas, flours, etc. It is edible, therefore safe for any dry product you wish to keep bug-free. You can add it to your pet's food and keep them intestinal pest free. Add to poultry, swine, rabbit and large stock feed as well. Side benefit is the DE passes through the animal, does it's work ridding the animals of intestinal pests, and then damages flys and other firm bodied bugs and insects, keeping the fly population down!
"Dust" it around the garden beds freely, safe to eat produce immediately! (you don't need gloves, but don't inhale the dust--not toxic but it can be irritating)KILLS earwigs, grasshoppers, armor bugs and any other pests with waxy bodies. DE is a MECHANICAL pesticide, therefore they never develop an immunity to it. The diatoms are sharp (microscopic) and scratch the body of the insect, causing it to dehydrate and die. NOT instant, but effective. Water/rain does not adversely affect the DE, it simply dries out and continues to work. More bang for your buck. You can apply it any time of the day, any day of the year that you have pests. Problem with ants? Sprinkle DE around the area they are nesting or along the trail of ants. They take the dust back "home" with them on their legs and feet.
Dust liberally around problem areas and see how quickly your infestations disappear. Slugs and snails are affected differently as they get "gummed up" when they travel across the dust. I keep a shaker handy and shake it on any roaming slugs or snails in the morning when I first go out to the garden or patio. If you see slime trails you can follow them and dust around the moist areas so the slugs or snails have to "cross the line" when they emerge.
I also put 1/2 teaspoon in my oatmeal in the morning (and my husband's coffee) for good intestinal health. It is nearly indistinguishable in foods and barely perceptible in liquid drinks. Just stir it in, and stir if the beverage sets awhile before consumption.
Most importantly, it does NOT harm earthworms, is non-toxic to fish, water systems, lakes, streams, etc.
IF youhave pets you can also "dust" them to rid of fleas, ticks, etc. You can also sprinkle on carpets to kill fleas, spiders, mites, etc.. Vacuums up easily. Just give it a day or two to do the job.
In my opinion, this is the single most important product for protecting my garden and my health.

(More customer reviews)I used DE in my home becuase of bedbugs. It has been about a month and i havent seen one since. I reccommend food grade DE as a safer non-toxic pesticide. In the home, left undisturbed it should work for months, I have never used this outside.
I reccommend buying a specific pump to be used with DE and also a face mask for application.
If you have bedbugs, first get treated by a professional and then use DE as a preventative. Ask how to apply for maximum effectiveness (yes this works if done correctly). Also visit bedbug websites to learn more.

The large fill mouth is a real plus! I am not much of a plastic fan, but this unit feels stout and it will not corrode like the old tin units used to.

(More customer reviews)We live in a building in White Plains, NY that is affected by bedbugs. We've had several of these nasty parasites in our apartment over the past 9 months. 3 months ago my wife discovered this product, and purchased the 3 pound container that you see here. We started sprinkling it around our apartment: we did the perimeter baseboard, pulled up our area rugs and dusted the floorboards, and even put it between our box spring and mattress.
We've found bedbugs dried up around our apartment in the areas that we've treated, so it's successful as a treatment for bedbugs. The fact that it is pet-safe (you can feed it to your pets to de-worm them? crazy) gives us peace of mind about our cat stepping in it and washing her paws later.
If you put this down on your floors, be sure to have good ventilation. We didn't realize how long this powder would hang in the air when we first treated our bedroom: we did that at night, then had to quick get the Ionic Breeze into our room so we wouldn't sneeze all night.
Our exterminator didn't know about diatomaceous earth before he came to treat our apartment. I showed him this product and explained how it worked; he has now incorporated it into his arsenal of bedbug toxins.

(More customer reviews)I have been a big fan of DE for many years. You have to make sure you get DE in food grade and not the kind used for swimming pools. I used this for dogs I have pulled from shelters on mange and it killed the mange mites. Again, no expensive vets bills or poisons for your pets.
Use it too around the perimeter of your home to kill spiders and other pests.
We have several dogs from rescue and they are on pasture grass...loaded with ticks and fleas. I place this in their kennels and on them directly. We have no problems with insects and my dogs suffering from bites.Pricing: This is a great price for the 50lb size. You think you will not use this much, but trust me you will. As long as you store in indoors where it is free from mositure, it will last for a long time.
** Caution: You will need to wear a mask and buy a sifter to apply this cause you must not breathe in the dust. If you buy the DE, you need to buy an applicator to protect you and your pets fro mthe dust.
Other that that you are looking at a organic way to stay pest free!
Food grade DE is also used for a dewormer. I put it my pets food monthly so they are not taking toxic chemical dewormers. Not to mention the savings from not having to but those toxic dewormers saves me quite a bit in money.

(More customer reviews)We have been using this product for 2 years now, and very satisfied with how good it works, and for a reasonably long period of time. However, if it weren't for the quality of its content, we would have rated 2 stars.
After a couple of gentle uses, suddenly, the sprayer handle cracked.We tried to use what was left in the container by squeezing the cracked parts together to minimize the leak.
Thinking it wouldn't happen again, we later bought a second one. This one's handle cracked as well just recently, and completely broke into 3 pieces.
Our advice: Don't buy any Bayer product in this type of sprayer/container thinking the sprayer that comes with it will last. It will let you down before you use all of it.
As for us, we will transfer what's left in the container as soon as we buy a sprayer.

(More customer reviews)If your room is infested by Bed Bugs and are looking for solution, this is all the thing you need. It works by scratching off bed bugs' exoskeleton so they get dehydrated and die. I tried it on bed bugs as well as roaches, they both die, but roaches die after few days while bed bugs die after merely a few hours!
This is how I test it to make sure it actually work. Most will just throw them in a jar of DE (diatomaceous earth) and watch them die, I think that's too much and not true in real application. Because insects will most likely walk over the DE and hide, so they actually won't expose to the DE continuously.
I caught a lively adult bed bug and put it on a piece of paper, put a circle of DE around it. So when it finally walked over the circle I caught it immediately and put it in an open jar. It walked fast at the first few minutes, and after like 10 minutes it just didn't walk at all unless I kicked his butt. After a few hours I know it was dead because it was so dry that one of its leg came off after shaking the jar very gently!
Avoid paying thousands of dollars for pest control, most of them do not know how to control bed bugs actually. They never take it seriously to really find all the hiding place because it is not their house. They don't give a darn.
Shipping is expensive but the total would be just $60 comparing to hundreds or thousands of dollor you pay for pest control. The reason I gave 4 stars is while DE really works, it does make your room messy. If you can stand the white powder all over the place then this is the perfect solution for killing bed bugs. Cleaning up the powder is actually pretty easy though. Just vacuum them up. Don't worry about leaving any residue, since they are natural and non-chemical. I do recommend leaving DE in crevices, corner, around baseboard and under your bed. Put many of them everywhere in the kitchen if roaches is a problem to you. Leave them and they work for you quietly and efficiently.
Sorry for this unorganized review. I rarely write review for most products I bought, but for this thing I just couldn't help. Because it does works!
