My husband and I have a protect-a-bed cover on our queen-size mattress, but I wanted something to put on my child's crib mattress. I only paid $38 for his mattress, so I didn't want to spend twice as much on a mattress cover (protect-a-bed covers are pricey, but very high quality). This ELF product got my hopes up, saying it was bed bug proof. When it arrived in the mail (I bought 2), one of the zippers came off when I zipped it for the first time, and the other one started unraveling at the seems after I washed it once. The material does not give at all, so the thread was pulling on the fabric and creating a gap in between the thread and the material -- completely making it possible for bed bugs to get in and out of the encasement. If you are buying this product to serve as a waterproof cover, it's an alright product, but this is definitely not bed bug proof. I was very disappointed. I will be returning this product.

(More customer reviews)We bought two of these mattress protectors. They worked really great and we were planning to get more, until they had been washed about 4 times! Then they both leaked. It seems that the rubberized coating underneath does not hold up in the wash. We wash on warm and tumble dry low, no bleach. One leaking protector had a visible but very small spot where the rubber seemed to have disintegrated, and the other one didn't have visible damage but still leaked. Very disappointed.
Amazon's website says there is a guarantee and we will try to see if the company will replace the product. But I am not sure it is worth it if they only last through 4 washes.
Update: The Protect A Bed company said they would replace the mattress covers on my first call. The company also said to dry the covers with bath towels so the backing does not overheat, does not get scratched, and does not stick to the surface of the dryer.
