3/4/11 - Setup at unfinished and empty basement of surface area 1,224 sq.ft. Cement floor and insulated (also unfinished) walls & ceiling. All appliances, water filters, etc. on one side of wall so this space is as open as any unfinished room can be. Usually, tons of living and dead bugs trapped here during warmer months (located in New England). They always manage to crawl in (to die or thrive or just hanging out) during colder months. The normal cold basement temperature plus a dehumidifier will usually kill them. Usual insects: centipede, black ants, lady asian beetles (not exactly lady bugs), beetles, etc. Upon plugging in the unit, I performed a manual sweep plus the help of iRobot Dirt Dog so that any future bugs can be seen and counted easily. A few dead bugs were left after thorough sweeping, no more than 5 that I could see but was too lazy to pick those up.
Settings on ET Bug Repeller: Pitch=Fixed / High Range Setting / Output=Continuous.
3/18/11 - Manual says that by today if pest persists, I'll need to change the Pitch to Variable, hence I walked around my basement to do a bug count. Results: maybe 5 more dead bugs present. Hence no change to the unit's setting is required. Our temperature has been in the 40s except the past 2 days when we hit 65~70F. Normally, lady asian beetles would come out in droves, none in the basement thus far. Only 2 living ones present on the living 1st floor above. This is almost too good to be true and I'll keep observing as warmer months approach. Outdoor temp this week drops back to mid-40s. So far, very happy with such minimal bug presence but maybe this is not the season yet. We shall see. 5 stars for now.
3/28/11 - Still no bugs inside basement where ET is. But some bugs started to appear above the basement. Usually there are droves of centipedes crawling and dying inside my basement, so far: none. But I just spotted a long lively centipede in a room above the basement for the first time in 5 years, this leads me to conclude that ET annoyed it so much out of hibernation and out of the basement! We shall see if ET is really that good.
