(More customer reviews)The title says it all. I used the Dermisil concentrate and herbal pet shampoo and mixed it according to the directions to treat 2 cats. I completely soaked the cats with the stuff which included using a toothbrush to get between the toes and all along the whisker and chin areas, and I made them soak for the full 7 minutes recommended, after which I put E-collars on both and let them air dry. I washed all pet bedding with hot water and sprinkled with Adams flea and tick powder to make sure that the mites would not return. After 4 weeks of torture for myself my husband and my poor cats, the scabs were dried up and there was some improvement, but not enough. The cats kept getting new bumps and itches so I continued treatment for 2 more weeks...Weekly sulfur baths, washing all bedding, brushes etc., but it was for naught.
This stuff smells bad, and it made the cats itchy and caused them to shed A LOT, but the hope of a cure was worth it. It also made the cats very upset and they started to run away from us every time we tried to pick them up. I have since treated my cats with ivermectin 400 micrograms/kg and have had fantastic results. The bumps are almost completely gone after only 3 treatments and my cats don't smell like fireworks anymore.
I can't say how this works for dogs or other types of mites or fungus, but it definitely did not work for demodectic mites in either of my cats. I would have saved myself a lot of money, time, effort, and guilt (for putting my cats through those horrible baths) if I had just gone with the ivermectin. I hope this review helps if you and your cats are in a similar predicament. Just a word of caution: Micrograms are much less than milligrams, so if you do decide to use ivermectin, do your math correctly!
